State Fair Audition Information
State Fair is a simple, unassuming but lively musical set in De Moines, Iowa in August 1946. A farming family of 4, mum, dad, son & daughter, take their produce to the state fair (agricultural show). The parents win prizes, the 2 kids fall in love and that’s it! No dramas, no pathos, just family life! This production will be directed by Wendy Glover.
The music is by Rogers & Hammerstein and is full of 4 part harmony, as well as lots of “swing” tunes. Songs you may know include “It Might As Well Be Spring”, “All I Owe Ioway” and It’s a Grand Night for Singing”.
There are 6 main characters and many supporting roles (17 at least). As with all our shows, everybody will need to dance at least a little bit and all the leads will have to dance a lot!
