Arcadians Children’s Theatre

Arcadians Children’s Theatre (ACT) is the youth division of the Arcadians Theatre Group, providing young people aged 6 to 16 with the opportunity to explore the magic of live performance. Established in 1985 by Lilian Bates, ACT was created to give children of Arcadians members - and the wider Illawarra community - a place to learn, grow, and shine on stage.

For four decades, ACT has been nurturing creativity, confidence, and teamwork through high-quality musical theatre productions. In a supportive and inclusive environment, children develop performance skills, build friendships, and gain lifelong confidence. Many ACT alumni continue to perform within the Arcadians or pursue careers in the arts, while others carry forward the joy and self-belief that theatre inspires.

ACT proudly continues the legacy of Lilian Bates and the Arcadians Theatre Group - fostering a love of performance and storytelling in the next generation. For more information about how to join ACT, please contact our producer (Kylie).

ARCADIANS CHILDREN'S THEATRE GROUP
2026 MUSICAL: SEUSSICAL JR.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
